[AMRadio] Boat Anchor Receiver

Thanks Russ,

I am going to a local hamfest Sunday. I think the main thing I have learn is that it's important not to rush into a decision and be open to different kinds of receivers. I almost locked into getting a Collins, but the cost kept me in check. As more an more hamfest show up in the Detroit and Toledo areas I'll start checking them out. I know there are plenty around. Just have to watch out for them. I had a ball at Dayton last summer, but I think you are right about checking out the the local scene.

The only receivers I have owned over the years where Hallicrafters, RME, & Hammarlund. I had a friend who had a National NC 300 when I was in college and it was a nice receiver.

Terry

OK Terry, stuff pretty well covered already. I guess it depends on how good
a BA receiver you want. 1KC resolution will cost more money.
i agree with what most of what the guys say. A R390A or better yet, a R390
or a R388 would be nice, but these now command more money than ever. A
National NC-300 is a good prospect as well. Probably a bit less expensive.
You can get good deals if you stay away from big
hamfest and Epay. Good luck and have fun...Russ.
