Mark,
Thanks for sending this. I can tell that many folks have their favorite receivers by the many comment I've received. I currently have an HQ 110A, So according to Johnny, I have an okay back up receiver. I would have to agree with him. It works, but I just would like something that is more sensitive and stable. I've looked at the Collins lien and fine them a bit expensive for what one gets.

I've also be using a Drake 2-B and 2-BQ for 10M AM since April of this
year. I concur with Stu W7FE's coments except that the wide filter
position is a little too narrow (3.6 Khz). For 10M work I've found it to
be a minor problem, but you may find it to be more of an issue on 40M.
If you're leaning towards hi fidelity audio, I don't think you'll be
pleased with the 2-B (although it's a very sensitive receiver).
My "mainstay" receiver for AM is an SX-101A. I've been running that for
over 10 years and find it pleasant to use for CW and AM work; good
selectivity and sensitivity.
John W3JN did a nice writeup about receivers best, and worst, suited for AM
work:

BTW, why do you require 1 Khz dial read out?
