[AMRadio] Shelby NC hamfest

Hey! You're several hours closer than me, John. I make the trip over
three days, with stops along the way. First VA (MD this fall), then
Long Island, then NH. Leave here Tuesday, arrive at the motel Thursday
night in order to be there to open the gates Friday. Warren W1GUD
travels up from Tampa with a crew of Florida guys, and we have a
fellow who comes to sell each time all the way from 6 Land because he
enjoys the 'fest so much.

The two big things up that way are some kinda sausage sandwich and
apple crisp with ice cream. I avoid the former and greatly enjoy the
latter. Haven't seen RC in yars! We also have an AM breakfast Friday
morning at a nearby diner before heading over, and the infamous AM
Dinner on Friday night. Food is as much a part of the event as the
friends and radio gear, after all.

You'll make it up one of these days and ask yourself "why did I wait so long??"
