[AMRadio] SPAM/Bounces

I only use yahoo email for the ham radio email reflectors, since so many of those ham radio email reflectors are indeed yahoo user groups.

I do know from my email account used for personal emails that a certain number of users flagging emails from any one server source as spam will get that source blocked by my ISP.

There is no way for any service provider to stop spammers completely. These email reflectors for ham radio use have spammers joining the various groups all the time with no other purpose in mind than gathering email addresses for themselves to use. How is it you believe gmail can stop spammers from joining the various ham radio email reflectors and control this situation? Does gmail have control of qth.net or any other ham radio based user group? Even if all the ham radio user groups that have email reflectors were resident on google servers, the same spam problem would exist.

I setup my yahoo email account for ham radio email reflector use only BECAUSE I knew in advance it would be subject to spammers and I didn't want that in my personal or business email.

It's just way too easy for spammers to join the various ham radio user groups and gather the email adresses of hundreds or thousands of users in a very short length of time.

I fully understand that this stuation brings on a real headache for administrators of ham radio user groups. I fully understand that the ham radio related user groups and email reflectors are not usually operated by full time professionals and I don't expect or demand that kind of service or protection from any of them. I never flag any emails received on this account as being spam since that might cause the email bounce problem, I just delete all the spam and carry on like it was never there. Admittedly I do receive a lot of spam from the ham radio email reflectors but I handle it myself, one of the advantages of being retired and having more time than most.
