[AMRadio] R-388 gear rack slpping

After years of perfect service my R-388 has developed a  problem.  I noticed the KC adjustment dial seemed to get harder to adjust.  It now appears that the variable IF rack is not moving as you adjust the freq.  I've looked at the gear rack as good as I can and do not see a problem, but something has to be slipping.  To go into the gear train looks like nothing but problems.   Any advice or suggestions ??      Bill Fondren    K5PML
