My ARRL Antenna Book, 18th edition, has a couple of antennas that might be just the trick for finding noise sources on 10 meters. On page 14-12 you will find "A Shielded Loop with Sensing Antenna for 28 MHz," and "The Snoop Loop - For Close-Range RDF." Both are easily home-brewed. The Shielded Loop is intended for use with an external 10 meter receiver, and dit includes a "sense antenna" option that allows the user to check on which of the two nulls shown by the plain loop is the correct direction. The "Snoop Loop" is a self-contained antenna with detector and amplifier that needs no extra receiver. It features an "unbalanced loop" that gives you a definite maximum off one side of the loop as well as the usual bi-directional nulls.
I'll be happy to copy pages 14-12 through 14-14 for anyone who is interested. You can also find the Shielded Loop in QST, April 1954, "Transmitter Hunting with the DF Loop," by L. R. Norberg. The Snoop Loop is in QST, September 1957, "The Snoop-Loop" by C. M. Maer, Jr.
