 Thanks for all the replies about the AM station at W1AW. Good to see that the 
Johnson Valiant and National NC-303 are still there and working. Even for an old 
timer who knows how to tune and load tube transmitters, the tuning data for the 
Valiant has to be known. You have to know how much grid current and plate current 
to load the final to. You have to know the modulator plate or cathode current to 
run on voice peaks. If its like my HT-20, there are other metered stages. Maybe 
they have a "cheat sheet" on the desk giving this info. I read the reply that said 
they have an ARRL staff person there to assure its tuned correctly. Hopefully, he 
or she refers to the manual before tune up. I occasionally have to open the 
instructions on the HT-20 to make sure everything is where its supposed to be.
