This is an entire subject that only bits and pieces are being presented.
There is an underlying fallacy to the different views.
WHY? The main reason is the lack of real facts regarding the issues of
EMP and the effects.
You aren't going to go anywhere. The automobiles are built with a
microprocessor and and the applicable solid state components. The EMP
will take them out of use instantly. You can forget "getting out of Dodge".
You would have to have a generator, an adequate supply of fuel, and the
necessary hollow state based radio system, and all of it stored in the
appropriately shielded container with the required grounds.
The realities are that out of the purported 600,000 amateur Radio
Operators, you will have a particularly small percentage of them
prepared for this "event".
We are in this for a hobby. Were are not funded for this preparation,
nor do the vast majority even have the information regarding the
necessary protections and precautions for such an event.
The DoD has done extensive tests, studies, and preparation. It has not
been inexpensive.
Start doing a search on Starfish Prime. Then follow the threads dealing
with EMP, testing, and EMP survivability.
