Or rather, unterminate it properly and ensure the cartridge sees between 
5-10 megohm of load impedance.  For terminations into solid-state mic 
premaps where the input Z is of low or medium values, there are numerous 
D104 buffer circuits posted on the web - some are designed better, and 
worse, than others.  My rendition appears toward the bottom of my QRZ.com
