[AMRadio] List rules

Good afternoon gentlemen and ladies,

Recently we have had a spate of mis-postings that did not adhere to 
the rules.  Unfortunately one of the incidents cost us some members 
of the AM Radio list.  So I have some suggestions that I ask you 
read and do your best to comply with.

First, at the bottom of each message is a series of links that will 
look like this:

Personally, I read every posting to each list to be sure it is 
appropriate.  Some of you may note that I let very minor infractions 
slide because anyone can make a mistake.  I don't believe in 
punishing anyone for an honest mistake.  But recently we had a 
mistake that grew legs and before I could stop it, it grew to a real 
problem for Brian, Todd and myself.

In the future I urge you to read each posting from Brian/WA5AM, 
Todd/KA1KAQ and me, Jim/W5JO to see if the signature line contains 
the word "Moderator".  If it does then please follow the directions. 
Some of you subscribe to the digest mode so it is easy to fall into 
a trap and answer a message in the top part of the list before 
reading later postings.  Please guard against this practice.

We have  a good list and it runs itself very well because everyone 
here are ladies and gentlemen.

On another topic, when you reply on the AM Radio list you will be 
sending the complete message back to the reflector no matter what 
button you use, Reply or Reply All.  Remember that the Reply button 
will send the message back to the list and the Reply All button will 
send it back to the list two times.  Another thing I strongly 
suggest you do is edit your replies to eliminate extraneous 
material.  By that I particularly mean the link information at the 
bottom of each message.  Not often, but occasionally I see a message 
returned to the list two or three times and the link information at 
the bottom will be there as many times as the message is sent.

Please remove all that for several reasons.  One is that is saves 
space and on an archived list space is important.  If you recall Al 
ran a donation prize contest before transferring the list to the 
current owner.  So the current owner has expenses to maintain and 
server space and access to high speed internet isn't cheap.
So donate if you can, and please understand we moderators try to 
stay on the sidelines as much as possible.  We enjoy the postings 
and I, personally, have found a lot of good information here and 
made quite a few good friends.
