[AMRadio] 40 meter AM freq

AM does not have the critical tuning of SSB. And there are SSB people that either don't have RIT or don't know how to use it.

There is also a new bunch of people playing with these very simple I/Q direct conversion things that don't have a clue about older radio techniques.

I don't hear any 40M phone activity here in the PNW unless there is a contest.

We need to see what kind of 40M phone activity there is in the areas we live in.

I also wonder if some of these people are actually licensed!

  I cant stand ssb, I seem to be pitch ignorant, I can tune around forever and it never sounds natural, or I hear some guys in a group that sound somewhat normal, and one that sounds way high, and one that sounds low....
  I suppose its great for communication, but its crazy unpleasant to me.

  I hear some ssb guys talk about poor AM signals, and some are really poor, I hear unstable vfo's, excessive bandwidth and over modulation, failure to zero beat, or even get close (that shows up very well on the sdr-iq), and sometimes all of the above!

  Many ssb guys on the air seem to be very unhappy right wing republican intolerant type people, you are one of us doing as we do or you are one of 'THEM'...

  Well, I don't mind ssb, or contests, or dx, or essb, or data modes, whatever someone wants to do is fine with me.
  I am not sure why people always worry about what someone else is doing for fun...

    Don't let the sideband drive you away. Just stay on the frequency if you are there first. I hear this game is played on the other bands too.

    And your carrier is more of a nuisance to them than their Donald Duck is to you.

      Hey everyone.

      I don't mind the 7190 or the 7290/7295 too much except for the QRM! I was having a lovely QSO with Bernie W8RPW this afternoon on 7190 and the sidebanders suddenly appeared out of nowhere! 

      We were sorta discussing how the extra portion might be a nice option.  Let's face it fellas, it's NOT DIFFICULT to upgrade to Extra class nowadays.  Maybe some activity down there will provide some incentive for Generals to upgrade.  It sure is way less crowded!  Just a thought!
