The muting contacts are Pins 5 and 8 on the octal plug (SO-1) on the
rear
chassis apron of the SX-42. There is probably a jumper between those
pins now.
Operation of the SEND/RECEIVE switch on the front panel removes the
center tap
of the power transformer HV winding, effectively removing the HV from
the
receiver. When using a remote switch or relay, place the SEND/RECEIVE
switch in
the SEND position.
