I can't tell you how many hams had nothing other than
a crystal element D-104 microphone being run straight
into a single 12AX7 as their first speech stage.  And
99% of 'em sound good enough to hear on the air.

You certainly don't need -all- that, to be heard...
but I -would- like to hear you on the air on 75m,
sometime.
