Sorry to hear of your good friend's passing John.  I didn't know him
myself.  One thing about ham radio, is that you meet nearly twice as
many folks in a lifetime than non-hams do in two lifetimes.  That
considered, we (hams) seem to see a lot more of our dear friends pass
on.  I know I surely have.  Several old timers that were like a father
to me...
