[AMRadio] KWS-1 on AM

[Phil Lamarche]

That was the South Pole, I believe.  The frozen pack ice was only 6.8 ft
thick and wouldn't support the weight with all the shifting.

That's quite a story!

In a similar vein, I remember reading about an ice station powered by a
nuclear reactor in qst or CQ.
I don't remember if it was the north or south pole, but they showed pictures
of the reactor.

I wonder whatever happened to it!
