think again. ham ssb amps that are rated for 1.5 kw cannot usually be used
for AM legal limit service for very long because:
A. They usually do not have the cooling needed (hams all want quiet amps
these days).
B. They do not have power supplies that are robust enough to handle the
demand of a carrier plus sidebands for several minutes or more.
C. They are not designed to dissipate the heat that is generated when they
are used as amps for AM and the 60% or so power dissipation as heat.
the 30s-1 may be an exception. the henrys that had lots of blower cooling
and big power supplies were probably okay. but it's a mistake to assume
any ham ssb amp designed for 30% duty cycle can handle legal limit AM.

Probably used a 4CX1000, if I'm not mistaken. If it does 1500 W
out max, then it'll do about 375 W max on AM. If 2000W, then
500W out on AM.
