Thanks Brian.  I've seen those heads, but never owned one. 

Jack, I guess that answers that issue.  I'm pretty sure you have the 
round high z crystal head, so that wouldn't be the cause.  Honestly, all 
D-104 mics I have and have used have a tinny sound, that seems to be normal.
