Gary, You might try (X)^1/2... your raising the number to the 1/2 power, which is the same as taking the square root. ^(1/3) cube root ^ (1/4) fourth, etc.. I can't remember if the extended ascii or whatever its called now supports the 'usual' symbols. klc
