You are certainly correct here. The lower portion of
the band does refer to 80 meters and usually narrow
modes like CW and digital.

Actually the upper portion say 3.8-4.0 Mhz can be
called 75 meters. It relates to the wide band modes
such as sideband and AM being used in this segement
also.
I really believe it is a matter of semantics Jose.
Especially with amateurs who have been around since
the time AM was a more mainstream voice mode years ago
(me included).
I hope this may add to your amateur radio knowledge. I
am proud to know you and that you asked. Others who
view this maybe asking themselves the same question.
