What kind of choke, the plate choke?
$8.00 to $10.00 is a low price.
B+W made some, just close wound wire on a ceramic insulator, then there
are the pi wound coils, etc.
Something good for the current will be big, and needs to be mounted on
a big insulator.
I have a couple, they are 3/4 inch by 6 inches long, wound with about #18
wire, close wound, 4.5 inches long.
This would work, you can make your own choke.
B+W is still in business, and I bet they want over $50.00 for one...
Hammond makes the low power chokes, 2.5Mh 5Mh, etc.
They are very nice chokes, I used a few in the receiver I just built,
very nicely made indeed.
Maybe the guy you gave the choke to never used it?
