[AMRadio] AM from a ricebox

I found the same thing on 2 meters, we used to get on
(the local AM guys), but were always getting yelled at for tying up
a repeater, or a simplex calling frequency.
Nothing but old timers talking about their ailments.
I could never remember calls and names on the fly, I need to write things
down, impossible while driving.
Got rid of that stuff, don't do DX, used to love rag chews on CW,
all bands, hour long QSO's with interesting people, but I am very
rusty with CW, and it takes me some concentration, impossible if the wife
is around.
I always used a straight key, got up to about 25 wpm comfortably.
I really used to enjoy CW, but like AM now.
I am sure there are some interesting people and topics on other
modes, but I never found much of it.
I almost always have a very fun and interesting qso on AM.
Lots to talk about, all type of radio stuff, cooking, cars,
life, other hobbies, etc.
For some reason, the people I talk to on AM always seem interesting
and intelligent.
Had a very good bunch of QSO's today, my only regret is the wife came
home and I had to get off and go out to eat.
Tomorrow, the spouse is going out with my sister to a Christmas thing,
and I get to play radio for a while, and to top that, I am off
for the next two weeks, and she has to work...
