That's not a bad idea Don. I would be a little watchful about the
resonance of the reactance's of the modulation XFMR and the filter cap I
guess that if the plate current is still flowing in the modulators and
with the feedback that gates uses any oscillation trains should be
damped pretty good.

BTW, I'm considering modifying the Gates BC transmitter to run CW by
switching the filter cap and bleeder to the tube side of the mod reactor
with a large ceramic DP switch. In the cw mode, the mod reactor will
act as
an additional filter choke in series with the regular power supply one,
while the cap effectively shorts out the secondary of the mod
transformer.
The increased inductance will maintain critical inductance under key-up
condx when there is little or no load on the plate supply.
