Ah, Ron,
The Thunderbolt does NOT require 20 watts unless there is something
really
wrong with it. I have and use two one is driven by a Central Electronics
10B with about 2.5 watts out in AM mode for over 300 watts carrier from
the Thunderbolt. In CW mode I usually run about 6 watts into the T-Bolt
and get about 250 watts output, SSB is not more than about a watt or so.
You really need the manual, as the Hook up and power requirements for
the
Ranger are listed in that. There is also a diagram to build the
attenuator
for use with the ranger, detuning the ranger is not a good idea, BTW.
If you go to the BAMA site the manual is there and should be an immense
help. Or contact me directly I will render any assistance I can.
