Oh yes, that's something else he didn't like.  He wouldn't talk to stations 
that used phonetics.  "No lids, no kids, no space cadets, no Phonies".

W2UJR (now SK) knew him and told me this was mostly a put-on, that he was a 
nice guy in person, and would sometimes actually be helpful to local kids.
