I have made many meter holes in steel panels, the hard way. You simply mark and then drill all way round it with a sharp drill bit 3/32 or so, then using sharp nippers clip out the connecting material and then break rest on dotted line. When the piece is out you use a good half round file with fine teeth and smooth out the hole, it is time consuming but it looks FB. Aluminum is a snap whith proper sized hole saws and some Aluminum Magic cutting fluid. The "real McCoy" hole saws are the best. If you want to use them on steel you need something to hold the panel, Heavy pressure and lotsa oil and pressure and of course a 5/8"drill press. Hope this helps, Mike K4XM
