Greetings Gang:
I finally got the Gates BC-1J transmitter settled down and on the air. Been
having a roundtable with my pals on 3870 here in Washington State and
reports are really good. I have great broadcast audio, right on frequency,
and no smoke.

I want to thank everyone who threw their two cents in as I worked my way
through this process. It seemed at times like it was gonna kill me. But
there you go.

The modulator oscillation problem that I reported yesterday turned out to be
equipment mal adjustment. I am using a pre amp, a graphic equalizer and a
Urea LA-4 limiter. I had overdriven something in that chain and it was just
sending a feedback squeal into the audio driver. I have no manuals for any
of the processing gear so it is not surprising.

I'll be on 3870 on and off all evening (crystal control for now) if you want
to try to give me a shout here in south west Washington.
