We used a pair of 4-400's configured in class "C" in a McMartin 1kw box.Even 
in the old RCA transmitters from the 1950-60's run 4-400's configured that 
way to acheive a max RF output of 1200 watts.Continuous service...these days 
4-400's will last 2 years max.Much longer for amateur use.
