Hi Vince,

Yes neutralization is usually the problem when max output does not occur at
the plate dip. That is one way to adjust the neutralization. Adjust it a
little at a time until the two exactly coincide. You will find that when
there is too much neutralization capacitance that the max output will occur
on one side of the plate dip and if there is too little neutralization
capacitance the max output will occur on the other side of the plate dip.
