Bill Listens?
Steve says it right.
During pile-ups on TEN meter AM into Europe, I usually try to answer the
weakest signal I can for a few reasons: 1) The QRP guy needs a break. 2) It
shows the other operators that there is more than just QRO "strap". 3) It
give the calling QRO guys someting to think about, especially when I pass
them up and dig out the QRPP guy running 500 milliwatts on TEN Meters. 4) It
makes for good operating practice for emergencies such as power outage,
blown down antennas, damaged transmitters. 4) It's fun to just mix it up.
BTW... I'm QRO most of the time, but Love to give others satisfaction. When
I run QRO, sometimes all the replyies are weak, so I pick the weakest one.
It's a blast to have a guy answer my QRO CQ using his 1/2 watt, Then I tell
Him I'm running 1KW. He is a very happy camper!!

Wow. I guess you are not content to be an elite for running AM. You need
to
be an even higher elite among the AM operators! I gather your operations
are
too important to be "bothered" by someone calling, wanting to talk to YOU,
that might not have a strapping signal. That's nice.
I think there's room on the bands for all kinds of stations, of all power
levels, and all sorts of antennas. If somone is not to your liking, don't
answer their call.
