Hello all.
I am working on the design of the home brew receiver, and have
not been able to find much info on oscillator coils
used in receivers.
I have found out you want a high Q coil, the higher the Q, the more
stable the oscillator.
I have some designs of ultra stable VFO,s using big
B+W style coils, others wound on ceramic forms, others wound
on typical forms.
While the air wound coils would be easy, will it be stable
in a receiver, with tubes and other things around it, mounted in
a plug in socket?
Would a ceramic form be better in this application?
A slug tuned core?
Anyone know?
