I think the Globe king 400 is a much better transmitter.
I had a 500c, and it was not a great transmitter.
Running a 4-400 or a 4-250 at 1800 volts is silly.
540 watts in, 300 watts out!

Not sure how well the 4-400 modulates at that voltage, WRL
used a screen choke to self modulate the screen...

On the other hand, the GK400 did 300+ watts out, and
I know wa3jvj used to get 1500 watts pep out of his!

I think, if you have any junk parts collected at all,
you could build a better rig than the GK500 for less
than a nice clean one sells for, especially if you 
only want 80 and 40 meters...

I wonder if the new Globe King runs 1800 volts on the final.
Any web info on the thing?

Has Leo given permission to use the Globe King name?
