Hi,

I remember it was in the 1954 era and around that time.  There were several 
offers for   cards going around.  I know of a couple of new licensees who 
received "sample" cards with their new call letters on them before they 
received the actual license from Washington.  Back in those days, it could 
take 6 to 8 weeks to get your ticket after passing the test, so you can 
imagine the anxiety these folks had when their cards arrived.
