Hi Bob,
Can't help you with the tuning unit, but I do have a suggestion.
Locate an old T195 vfo and use it, in place of using
crystals. I did this to my 610 many years ago. It's stable and
allows you flexibility. You can modify the tuning units to
multiply the basic ferquency to 80 and 40 meters, no problem.
Probably on up the ham bands too, altho I never go above
40 with my set up, so never had occasion to try.
I built a frame to mount the T195 on so that it would slide into the
left tuning unit slot. Then you can just lift the door and tune
to the frquency of your choice.
I also resurrected an old Radio Shack frquency counter kit, and
viola, I have a "state of the art"(hehe) digital frq readout to get spot
on frq. with. Makes life real easy.
If you can't find a tuning unit, you can modify a higher frq one to
use on 160. The various tuning units are all laid out the same.
All you have to do is subistute the proper value coils and caps.
Good luck,
Geo KE4HJ
