[AMRadio] RE: the weekly receiver update

Don,
Since my home brew receiver is partly based on my Scott
receiver, it runs a fairly low voltage.
The Scott runs about 100 volts, the home brew runs 105
(regulated).
I tried various voltages using my heathkit variable
supply, and found very little difference down to as low as
about 35 volts, without circuit changes.
This is with octal type tubes.

I wonder why they used voltages as high as 250 or 300
in some gear, as it seems to have little benefit.
I ran the voltage up also, and there was no improvement
in performance...
