Tnx to all who replied.

I finally reasoned out that I could tune the radio with my manual tuner by 
putting it in AM mode. I just wanted to use it on the air to make sure it is 
in perfect working condition. Once I figured out how to match it to my 
antenna, I was able to operate it and verify that all was well.

If anyone is interested, the rig is in almost-new condition (plastic cover 
is still on display) and I am asking $325 for it including shipping (well 
packed) to Lower 48.
