[Alinco] DX-70 distortion from noise blanker

I recently purchased a used Dx-70 for my mobile installation and basically
like it very much.  However the noise blanker is very aggressive, so much
so, that although it does a good job on repetitious noise pulses, it seems
to create rather severe distortion on the desired station received audio.
It also seems to respond negatively to off frequency stations when on the
NB.  In other words when the NB is on, there seems to be more cross
modulation from strong off frequency stations, than with it off.

Is there any known way to soften or adjust the levels, for the noise
blanker, so it won't be so aggressive?
