[Alinco] Reloade Email Addresses

Had computer problems and had to reload everything including address
book, hope I got it right.....NOW I have problem question, One of my
local ham buddies has a Alinco DJ-5V, Dual Band H/T (think he got on
ebay). The audio is terrible on the 440 side, I can best describe it as
real muffled, sounds restricted almost like his hand was covering the
mic opening on the front of the radio, bassy and almost can't understand
him. The 2m side is a little better but not much. He's tried a external
mic with not much better results....any ideas, comments or recommended
cures I can pass on to him? any and all help will be appreciated, Mac
