My 590 was "factory" upgraded to what they later called a "592" (really
a 590 with a 599 CPU).  My original internal battery lasted about 7
years -- the replacement one from Radio Shack is still doing fine.  I
don't know if it makes any difference, but my 590 normally has 12vDC
applied even when it is off.
