[Alinco] DR 592

Mu understanding is that the 592 is basically a 590 with the 599 CPU in
it.

The 590 CPU had some minor problems -- including some oddities with
certain CTCSS frequencies not working correctly.  The 599 was basically
the same design with the CPU problems fixed and some cosmetic changes.
Some of the earliest 599's shipped with the 590 owners manual and a one
page addendum.  Alinco USA did also the CPU upgrade on 590's that came
in for various repairs about that time.

The 592 hit the market AFTER the 599 -- I certainly can't prove it, but
it seems the 592 was Alinco's solution to using up their existing stock
of 590 components by building them with the 599 CPU.

Can anyone give me some info on the Dr 592. Is this a foriegn version of
the 590? An upgrade? I can find almost nothing on the internet that
really describes the radio.
