In reviewing the QST evaluation Dec 95, of the DX-70T, several comments lend
themselves to a conclusion that in the past years Alinco may have revised
some portions of the circuitry to overcome the implications from those
original comments. Specifically:
"Most reviewers agreed... the noise blanker left some thing to be desired"
and "the improved noise blanker...(was) not as effective as I would like."
They also said, there was " some distortion" from the blanker. also:
"If you're accustomed to the filter performance of upper end radios, the
DX-70T might disappoint you". In addition:
"The rig does not have a built in keyer"
That being said, the radio seems to have a lot to offer. This would be
considerably enhanced if in the last few years, upgrades have been
incorporated into it's design, to over come these limitations. Any comments
about such in later models?
I am looking for the best mobile radio available with a detachable front
panel.
I would also appreciate some elaboration on the effectiveness of the
included speech compressor. The Yaesu and Icom mobiles seem to offer only
speech equalization and maybe a little in-band compression, not RF
compression similiar to that which has be so effective in the past on older
radios. (I have a Signal One CX-7A and a FT-757GX. The RF compression
works great in both).
Thank you for your attention.
