I have come into the possession of an Alinco DX-70T, the first model
of this series. It works well, save for the power output. The
following output power measurements were made with an Autek WM-1
wattmeter and a dummy load. The radio was powered by an Astron 30 amp
supply.
On 160 and 80 meters, 95 watts, which is close to the 100 watt
rating. On 40 meters, about 80 watts. On 30 meters through 10 meters,
output varies from 55 to 70 watts. On six meters, power is about 4
watts, still acceptable. Is there a known reason for this reduction
from rated power, and a known fix?
If the power were down on all bands, I would suspect one or both
output transistors, but the fact that it puts out more than half its
rated power everywhere suggests that it is not a finals problem.
Receive works well, and all functions operate properly.
Thank you in advance for advice.
