Subject: [ARES-VA] Big News! ARRL/FEMA MOA update and Governor's Proclamation

Good afternoon,

As many of you have seen in the press release from FEMA, the ARRL and FEMA have renewed their Memorandum of Agreement. This was a long process that Josh KE5MHV began working on shortly after being hired on. This took a lot of work as all MOUs/MOAs have to be approved by attorneys on both ends, and also the Public Information Officers as well. This takes a lot of back an forth, and Josh should be commended for his hard work in managing this process. I highly recommend that all ECs/DECs and other leadership add this to their Continuity Binder. Not only is it a valuable reference, it’s a great marketing tool to demonstrate the value of amateur radio to our communities.

Also today, I received the Governor’s Proclamation of June 24th and 25th as “Amateur Radio Days”. This is just in time for Field Day advertising, so feel free to get that out to as many folks as you can I would recommend printing out a copy of this and having out on display at your information tables, not just for Field Day, but for any events. Again, it demonstrates our value to the Commonwealth and our local communities.

73,
