Rick,
Did we find out the time scope of the exercise eg; 8hr, 12 hr ???
I can take Sta 203 as I’m already here. ( It’s 3 blocks from the house.  ). Presume we will use 315 which is very reachable from the ridge (Cameron Mills Rd).  Do we have a defined format for passing traffic?  Presume CERT will be playing in this as well for damage assessment.  Unknown if they will be using FRS radios to relay neighborhood assessments back to Sta 203 for the ARC team to forward to EOC or if the damage assessments will be pre-scripted and simply need to be forwarded to EOC but will check with Marjorie.  I noticed that Kevin indicated that he was looking for 3-4 people for Sta 203 so we need to understand his thoughts and expectations as well.
We could also checkout simplex from 203 to EOC to simulate loss of repeater.  Any plan to use anything other than 2M?  Could use 70 CM for relay service as well.  Probably good to exercise our circuits the wee of the 17th to confirm what works best.  I will plan to bring two 8 watt HTs w a reg and an extended height / range portable antennae.  Will you be conducting a pre event Zoom session to set expectations and responsibilities?  Are you going to play from the EOC?  I will recon Sta 203 for a quiet zone w table space for us to setup our unit.
Let me know if I missed anything for the Sta 203 piece of the task.  Can you send me a list of our other volunteers that have signed up and what their tasks and call signs are?

Subject: RE: ARC/ARES participation in Alexandria Full Scale Exercise 25-April

Good afternoon,

I wanted to touch base to see what members are slated to participate in the City’s upcoming exercise on 4/25.

To recap, we’re looking for 2 folks at the EOC and a few (2-4 depending on interest/availability of your members) to establish one field comms location at Fire Station 203 to relay messages back to the EOC.  Communications will not be heavily impacted as part of the exercise scenario but figured this was a good opportunity to partner with you all, expose folks to what you do, and practice our comms protocols/equipment.  We will have at least one or two injects prompting field personnel conducting damage assessments to leverage the deployed comms team and vice versa may leverage the EOC comms team to pass info to the field.

Please provide names/emails of those who may be able to support and we can provide additional information.  Let me know if anyone has any questions.  Thanks for the support!

Subject: ARC/ARES participation in Alexandria Full Scale Exercise 25-April

Rick and Don,

Alexandria is conducting a full-scale exercise on 25-April in which we are fully activating the EOC.  The exercise scenario is a tornado event impacting a few different areas of the City.  If you and a few folks are available to attend, we’d have space for 1-2 at the EOC and a couple (1-3) out in the field at one of our mock damage sites.

We figured this would be a good opportunity for a couple of your folks to practice, see the EOC in operation, and for EOC personnel to see what you all do.  We’ll have personnel out in the field conducting damage assessments so may simulate some sort of brief “comms outage” forcing them to send a message through your field team to the EOC.  Otherwise, we don’t necessarily have any comms-specific injects; rather, this would be more of an opportunity to concurrently setup and test your systems while the EOC is activated as opposed to involved exercise play.

I can send you more info as we get closer if this is something you can support.  The estimated exercise times are 0900 – 1500.  I’ll need a list of names and contact info for those that are interested/available to play so we can add them to our exercise roster and provide additional information.

Let me know if you have any questions and thanks in advance for any support.
