As recently posted to the ARRL VA Section website https://www.arrlva.com
we are launching a new section-level training and traffic net in January
2027! The net will operate over the DMRVA repeater network
<https://dmrva.org/> using the Virginia Statewide Talkgroup, 3151. Access
via any DMRVA repeater or a hotspot. For hotspot access, see DMRVA's
instructions at DMRVA Hotspot Network – DMRVA
<https://www.dmrva.org/dmrva-hotspot-network/>.

Please consider joining this exciting new adventure to enhance the VA
Section of the Nation Traffic System (NTS).

To prepare for the roll out of the initiative, Rich Davis, W4NMH is
offering an on-line seminar entitled *Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) Made
Simple.*

When: Thursday, Oct 29th at 7-8pm

We envision a future when Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) integrates into modern
Amateur Radio operations, especially for Technicians, and the "last mile"
for traffic handling.

Today's electronics age has changed what "intuitive" means to a newer
generation. For newer Technicians who has grown up with smartphones and
computers, the concept of data streams, talkgroups, and firmware is often
more familiar than tuning an analog VFO or understanding RF propagation
quirks.

Embracing DMR gives these tech-savvy Hams a relatable bridge into the
hobby. It channels their skills into the NTS, where digital text messaging
capabilities over DMR can be used to pass formal messages quickly and with
100% accuracy, bypassing the common hurdle of inexperienced operators
struggling with voice traffic phonetics. This seminar will help demystify
the DMR technology for both the new Ham and those seasoned Hams looking to
learn about Digital Mobile Radio.
