Former Roanoke Division Director and ARRL Vice President John Kanode,
N4MM, of Boyce, Virginia is a Silent Key. For his many years of service
in ARRL leadership, he was awarded the title of Honorary Vice President
by the board of directors. John served as Vice Director and later as
Director of the Roanoke Division, and he was the 1984 recipient of the
Roanoke Division Service Award, the division's highest honor. An avid
operator, he earned DXCC Honor Roll and was inducted into the CQ Hall of
