[Alexandria Radio Club Reflector] ARES Elder Jirga Notes

Hey all,

We had the NCR ARES meeting last night, not a whole lot going on short term but ARRL is seeking to have a ham presence at the Great American State Fair in July, which is several weeks long. Most of the ARES EC's pushed back on this, requesting that this effort be led by ARRL national, given the duration, scope, and non-emergency nature of the event. I know the ARC supports several public service events like this throughout the year with a lot of success, so for those that are interested, I'd recommend coordinating with club leadership and routing up through our Section Manager.

DC ARES needs assistance for the DC Cherry Blossom Race, as of last night they needed 28 ARES members to support the event. It is not immediately clear to me if all of the positions are communications roles​, so if you are new and unsure if you're ready to support an event like this, I'd recommend reaching out and getting your feet wet.
