Yes, Allstarlink has a very robust repeater linking capability, including remote base sites, remote receive voting, and verbose admin congrats to restrict who, when, where repeaters can be linked. Allstarlink also has the ability to allow access from echolink, several club members have been able to listen to our nets remotely using this capability already,

I am not touching this the topic of OUR repeaters being setup with Allstarlink or Echolink with a 10 ft pole, no sir E.

Allstarlink is just an extra module on topic of asterisk, its administrative restrictions are highly tunable and granular, if you can imagine it you can probably do it with Allstarlink. Echolink runs on windows and I assume its ACLs and AAA are trash, but I’m happy to be proven wrong.

No idea if it will be streamed, happy to meetup offline and at another time for a more hands on demo.

Ooo… I’ll toss out questions at least:

Does either AllStarLink or EchoLink allow users of the repeater to link it to other repeaters (like, say D-Star or IRLP do? — I’ve never used IRLP, but I think that’s how it works)? Or do only admins determine which nodes are linked?

When are we getting either (AllStarLink or EchoLink) on our 2m club repeater ;-)

If we do get it on our repeater, is there a capability to restrict it such that it can only be used by club members — ie: password? (I’ve never seen that in my playing around with connecting to different Alstar enabled repeaters, but curious if it’s possible)

I’m hoping to be able to attend the meeting in person… but will it be streamed?

This presentation will focus on how individual ARES communicators can use AllStarLink nodes to enhance their capabilities and provide greater service to partner organizations. I wanted to throw out this email to let folks toss out some questions or requests for specific things to be covered. Just to give a brief overview of the presentation.
