[Alexandria Radio Club Reflector] ARC General Membership Meeting 12 September @ 1900 hrs

The Alexandria Radio Club (ARC) is inviting you to the monthly membership meeting scheduled for September 12th @ 1900 hrs.  Friday night's meeting will include a review and discussion of the updated Articles of Incorporation, the document used by the State of Virginia to incorporate an organization and by the Federal Internal Revenue Service to evaluate the Club's suitability to qualify as a tax-free / donor friendly (501.c.3) organization.  Forty-two radio clubs in the Commonwealth have already achieved this status and are enjoying the benefits.  We need to join them. 
I have attached the updated Articles of Incorporation here for your review and discussion on Friday night.  I will have paper copies available so that we can read through the Articles together.  The plan is to review / discuss this document and answer all member questions prior to the October 10th meeting where we will vote to proceed with changing our tax status and in doing so, secure the Club's financial future.  If you have comments and questions after Friday night, please send them to me.  I will answer them directly if I know the answer or get you answers from the experts as rapidly as possible.  If there is more discussion than is reasonable to handle on Friday night, we can schedule as many Zoom sessions as it necessary to vet all the issues thoroughly.   While I think most if not all the members will find this updated version of the Articles more palatable and more closely aligned to current club processes, there may be some that do not want to see this effort succeed for any reason and that's unfortunate.  To avoid annoying the general membership with the email tomes of discord that we've experienced on this topic in the past, we will not allow the use the global club email directory to debate this topic.   Most members understand what it is that we are trying to accomplish, and I anticipate a civil, respectful and successful discussion on this topic.  
 
As in the past, the meeting format will be hybrid (Zoom), but we would really appreciate having you with us in person to improve the depth of discussions.  Bring your questions, comments and ideas to the group so we can discuss.  I truly hope that we don't experience the connection failures that we suffered last month.  I've checked with the A/V chief at the Police Dept and he gave me the details on the new configuration so we should be fine.
