Good evening everyone,
My name is Mike Joyce (KQ4WOI) and I will be running for the position of
club secretary. My ham radio journey is not as impressive as I’d like it to
be, but we all have to start somewhere. I got my technician license in
October of 2024 and I received my General at Field Day 2025. My goal is to
continue studying and get my extra at Field Day 2026. I am still learning
quite a bit but hope to continue my HF journey. My primary HF rig is a
Yaesu FT-710 with a Buddipole Buddistick antenna. I primarily operate HF
from a local Arlington Park. So far, I’ve only participated in POTA as a
hunter but would like to activate the local parks in the near future and
expanding to the surrounding states.
I’ve lived in Arlington for the last 4 years and am enjoying everything
this area has to offer. I’m originally from a small town in north east
Pennsylvania and have a Mechanical Engineering degree from Penn State (feel
free to talk smack on college football, this year has not been our best, by
a wide margin). Prior to living in Arlington, I lived in Corning, New York.
Professionally I work remotely for a robotic automation company in the
Corning area. Primarily I do a lot of 3D CAD work and system design for
robotic cells.
My goal as secretary is to engage more with club members at meetings and
the various events throughout the year, learn more about the ham radio
craft, and give back to the club with whatever skills I can.
73!
Mike, KQ4WOI
