Before this goes too far, the club has all commercial repeater
equipment on the 6 meter through 33 cm bands.
That said, commercial controllers are not designed to interface with
Echolink, Allstar, etc.
I would suggest if the club wants to pursue this idea, then we can
apply for a 2nd UHF repeater pair to install at the hospital and link
that to Allstar. The club is already paying for the internet service
there. Don't bother asking for a 2 meter pair, there are none to be
had.
Yaesu and Bridgecom repeaters will interface to Allstar. I know of at
least one group that uses both.

I know we have some VERY strong opinions on echolink, and while I think most of them are dated, I figured we'll let that dog lie but I think there is a lot to be gained from a discussion around AllStar, especially with the sunsetting of HamHotline.

Additionally, the Allstar node could be run in a way to only allow folks who have direct SIP trunks to the AllStar node itself to connect, which would insure that we don't become overly dependent on internet connections and exercise skills related to AREDN and similar PtP or Mesh IP networks.
